Arabsat is one of the Arabian market leaders in the
satellite communication market. The core business of Arabsat is to offer all
types of satellite communications to its customers. The services from long-term
services to short-term ones, the long-term commitments last for at least 3
years while the short-term commitment might last for about an hour.
Arabsat is the company responsible for the management
of 4 Arabian satellites. The company is owned by the Arab League. It has two
main locations in Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.
In order to understand what Arabsat is selling; we
need to look at how the satellite business is organized. There is an
international entity called (ITU – International Telecommunication Union) which
is responsible for organizing the different satellites in the sky. ITU assigns
a location for each satellite. It also assigns the frequency range that is
allocated for that satellite. Once the satellite is assigned its frequency
range, this assigned range can be used to transmit any thing through that
satellite.
The frequency assigned to each satellite is divided
into a set of “transponders”. Each transponder takes around 36 MHz of the
assigned frequency range. So, each satellite has a set of transponders that needs
to be utilized. The main of purpose of Arabsat – as a company running the
operation of a satellite – is to sell these transponders and make sure that
they are best utilized in order to get the maximum use of the satellite that is
orbiting the earth. These transponders might be used for transferring data
between any two points that are covered by the satellite. This data might be:
TV broadcasting, Telephone trunk between countries, Data transfers between two
locations, Internet access or any other type of data transfers. In order to
simplify things, the satellite acts like a mirror between two points, it gets
data on one of its allocated frequencies and retransmits it another one of its
allocated frequencies.
To start using Arabsat Booking System you have to register your account first. To register the account
1- From the Login page select New Customer.
2- This link will guide you throw some pages.
3- The first page is the agreement page you have to read this agreement and accept it if you want to continue to the next page.
4- Add new customer page will be displayed.
5- At this page you have to meet the following requirement:
a. The Email must be a correct Email.
b. Company Name, Country, City, Contact Phone 1, Contact Name, Email and User Name are required fields.
c. The password and confirm password must be the same.
d. The password must be at least 6 characters.
6- When you submit the information another page will be appear telling you that your request now is under process you will receive an Email for the confirmation via your Email.
To book a new service first of all you have to login to the system by using your user name and password. Then you can start the booking operation.
1- When you select the service, band, capacity, start date and time and end date and time you have to search first if the slots are available to you.
2- By click the search button all the available slots will be displayed and if there are no slots a message will tell you that.
3- You can then select a slot and complete the other information transmit station, receiving station, TX telephone, subject, requester, and paying customer.
4- If you are an agent you can select the paying customer but if you are not then the paying customer will be automatically select your account.
5- After you submit the information a message will be displayed telling that your request saved successfully.
6- You can start another booking operation directly.
From the booking screen you can select Inquiry and this selection will go to the Inquiry screen.
1- If you are an agent you can inquiry using a specific customer.
2- But if you are not you can just retrieve your information.
3- By selecting the start date and date and selecting the status of booking you can start the inquiry by clicking view result button.
4- If any booking operations match the criteria these booking information will be displayed.
5- At this moment you can edit any of these bookings by select the edit button beside it.
6- Also you can change the criteria and start another inquiry.
Editing an existing booking.
1- After you finish your inquiry as we so at (Inquiring the bookings) you can edit any of these bookings by select the edit button beside it.
2- This selection will go to the booking page by the booking operation information.
3- You can change the start date, end date and time or any another information then start searching about the available slots again.
4- If you find any available one you can select it and submit the information again.
5- You can also cancel the operation by select cancel from the screen.
